A New Year

It begins anew with celebration and drunken revelry
Nothing to foretell the pleasure or pain within
The skeleton rattles his cold dead bones
The unborn child begins a journey
We all dance and sing for the glory of time
Our dearest ally and darkest foe
Lovers dance looking into each other’s eyes
I see clearly what I have missed before
Know my heart speaks true and strong
The old and young mingle freely
Celebrate with sweet abandon
Tonight a brand New Year is born
