Christmas Time
Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
Traipsing round the shopping mall, truly divine
Dulcet tones of jingle bells
Overwhelming aroma of winter spice smells
Baubles, tinsel, twinkling lights
W.I. Mrs Santa’s, Wota sight
Rolls of paper hang from bags
Sullen husband behind lags
In the race to see Santa
Children fit to bust
Mum prolongs the agony
“I’ll just stop here first”
Lovey dovey couples window shop and sigh
Stop and have a coffee, laughing as one poor fella staggers by
Selection boxes piled high
Teenager frantically counting her money
So many more presents to buy, this just isn’t funny
Battling through crowds, baby asleep in pram
It’s amazing they sleep amid such pandemonium
Giggling girls with tinsel in their hair
Reindeer horns on a motorised wheelchair
A frantic search by Johnny’s Mummy
Finds him in shop window, being a dummy
Songs fill the air, mainly Wizard and Slade
Stalls selling interesting preserves, all homemade
Has Christmas lost its meaning, I wonder if that’s true
We pay homage to the family, is that not what it’s meant to do
A smile to a stranger, a joke in a queue
The shared celebration, brings them closer to you
Too often spreading the misery, a chance to share the joy
It’s not just about, Buzz Light-year or this years ‘must have’ toy
The commercialism taints the serious message a bit
But how dark would be winter, without Christmas in it
We have global serious messages every single day
Spend time with those who love you, laugh and have a play
Christmas serves to shine a light
On the dark and dreary winter night

It's a bit late for me reading this poem heh. It's a great Christmas poem though. Maybe a lot of people don't realize what Christmas means?
Take care.
