The Urge To Write (An Inspiration)

Contributed by Willofree on Monday, 26th December 2005 @ 10:28:16 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

A feeling wells up within
Associated with a desire to pen
This urge to express something inside
Becomes a reflection on the outside

An inspiration, something intangible just occurs
But miraculously the words begin to emerge
Like water cascading down the mountain peak
So fast, so forceful, nothing can impede

The stream gathers and creates an energy all it's own
Where the source of the words reside is unknown
Is the identity of the rhyme yours or mine
Bursting forth from the rising mist, an idea, to find

Yet to be deciphered as it swirls around
So illusive in its' present form to be found
But the medium through which the message flows
Is something that originates deep in our soul

It cannot be forced or willed
If our gift of expression is to be fulfilled
Thus the message we impart
Hopefully comes straight from the heart

We may eventually experience the elusive write
So to instill a lesson to share about life
But perhaps the writers' block that we dread so
Is our over exuberant need to control

Wonderful write my friend, and so very true. I think you nailed it with that last line...."But perhaps the writers' block that we dread so is our over exuberant need to control" Very thought provoking. Peace to you. Hope you had a wonderful holiday. Laura

how I handle writers block is simple.. I write what comes to my mind, underline what is important to me, and then I put all that I underlined into a poem, works for me.. and I keep writing, sooner or later , sooner lol.. I keep writing and well. I want to say eventually, but.. I will never be able to write it all down, what my soul wants to say in a million, trillion, zillion years.. I don't think my pen will ever run out of gas. Whatever your inspiration, muse.. pen point it, focus.. its all there.. Keep writing, lovely poem here.. nice words to assemble what it is you wanted to say, and created a lovely poem.. RL
