A Young Boy's Smile

Contributed by Poet_of_anger on Monday, 26th December 2005 @ 04:16:27 PM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

Here I am again alone
Singing songs that no one knows
Little smiles come and go
Until the pain frees my soul

The days of youth I used to know
I treasure those thoughts so much
But one day I will have to let go
And see what the world holds for me

My friends they ask for a smile from me
And though I try they don't mean a thing
The sparkle in the young boy's eye
Has withered away and started to die

But perhaps you could save me from myself
Perhaps there are things I haven't felt
Things that would make the sun rise over my head
Destroying the rain clouds that left me for dead

It is alright for you all to say
Let go of the past, it's in the way
But letting go is hard for me
For in the past the future I see

Hello my friend it's been awhile
I guess today is the day
I know from a long distance you've come
All the way to see me smile

And so for you and for your health
I will give to you what you want most
A smile that comes from deep in my heart
The young boy's grin that had long been unfelt
