good-bye December

Contributed by dc on Monday, 26th December 2005 @ 01:47:22 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

December is a woman.
A desperate, bitter, hateful soul
It was happiness she promised
It’s hopefulness she stole

October and November
With all their colors and the smells
Bring back memories and ambitions
Of the strength within ourselves

But December just gets colder
As she takes your breath away
Takes your money – people disappear
All colors turned to gray

And December’s such liar
She’ll say anything to please us
But she just takes and takes and in the end
She pretends to give you Jesus

All that’s left is hangin’ on
In the couple months till thaw
And if I didn’t last that long
It’s cause December took it all
*********

Nice try December
But you ain’t getting’ me no more
All I’ve left is dried pine needles
Of your promises before

Good bye December
Come on Girl I got your game
Dress you up in bows and ribbons
But you’ll always be the same

This is a very sad poem. Not because it is not what you want it to be, but because it is the month we celebrate the birth of our saviour, Christ. What better month to celebrate than when the North Star is shining so bright. When so many people are of good cheer. We give presents to our children emulating the gifts given to the Christ child by the wise men. What better gift could be given unto us by God above than the Christ child and hope for peace around the world.

Sassy

Brilliant. Especially:
"But she just takes and takes and in the end
She pretends to give you Jesus"

I loved it.

I have to smile at this writing piece.. I never ever thought to place gender to a month... this is a fantastic write.. December is cold.. silent...waiting for something to happen, preparing, icing nature... sort of like giving it a jump start... December does seem to rob.. but April comes along, and she says, move over woman, here I am lol. RL
