My Addiction

Contributed by unforgiven on Monday, 26th December 2005 @ 05:16:02 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

Like a user I crave my fix,
Something to ease my mind.
It clears my troubled thoughts,
And makes me forget the pain.

I am no drug user,
No alcoholic in disguise.
Yet my addiction still ruins my life,
Prevents me from normality.

You ask about my vice,
And I'll whisper it in your ear.
You're my addiction,
The thing I can't live without.

Like a drug you invade my mind,
Turn my life upside down.
I can't seem to get rid of you,
There is no known detox or cure.

My friends laugh in understanding,
Yet I wonder if they know the extent.
You call to me in the middle of the night,
And haunted I run to you.

It seems just as I rid myself of you,
I feel strong enough to survive.
You call me back with tender words,
With loving actions.

So here is my escape from the addiction,
The addiction to you and your love.
Coz I know that soon I won't survive at all,
Without you in my system.

wow this poem sent chills up and down my
spine it was so powerful and left me
wondering if your "addiction" to this person
is a good thing or not. This was beautifully
written I loved it.

I'm not sure there's any medication for your addiction
