You are my distraction,
For lack of better words.
What I think of when I'm scared,
Lonely, or disturbed.
When all around me are the pieces
Of my life's shattered remains,
And set before me are the reasons
I should give in to the pain,
I turn my thoughts to you and I
And let the feelings flood my heart.
I wonder what it would be like
Should we never grow apart.
Though wrong I know it is to think
Of you and I forever,
"Tis the only thing that hides my tears,
A bitter-sweet endeavor.
The shouting and the hateful words
I hear throughout the night,
Made distant at the very thought
Of meeting you at morning's light.
There's a warmth aout your presence
And I feel it deep inside
Even when you are not with me
And I'm trying to decide
What is most important
Or should be in this life?
Upon conclusion, "family first,"
I hang my head in strife.
You are my distraction
My diversion from all things
What I think of when I cannot face
The tragic sorrow my life brings
