I don't create poetry, I create myself ... for me, my poems are a way to me. ~ Edith Södergran
To withdraw myself from myself has ever been my sole, my entire, my sincere motive in scribbling at all. ~ Lord Byron
So, there I find myself …
Embedded within the words
Buried under metaphor
Disguised as
What you’ve heard
Do you see me?
I won’t open up the truth …
Only part the veil slightly
Allowing you a subtle view
To interpret
As is likely
Does it fit your life?
See in me who you could be
Or maybe you once were?
Perhaps you’ve lived
All I could dream
And you need not defer
What brings you then?
For once again, I find you here
Lying in the dark
Peering through my curtain
Pointing fingers
At my heart
Would you be so quick to judge yourself?
I have become the victim ...
For portrayal of my soul
In a way you can relate to
Offensive pieces
Of your whole
What if you didn’t know?
I lie hinting at exposure
Running naked through your head
You see only what you wish to
In those words
That you have read
Do they apply to you?
I’m not seeking your forgiveness
I don’t need your clemency
For creation of myself
Is mostly just
For me to see
Why exactly am I here?
To pave the way for others
Who might think the way I do
Encourage them to brave the waters
Infested by
Brain sharks like you
And there ...
I find myself ~

I found this to be very well written. An let me say an ultimate truth... you don't need anyone else to be yourself.
Thanks for sharing.

Pertinent subject matter for any writer and reader. Very interesting imagery, well written, and I liked the rhyming pattern.
Only parting the veil slightly - sweet!

"We can never judge the lives of others, because each person knows only their own pain and renunciation. It's one thing to feel that you are on the right path, but it's another to think that yours is the only path" ~ Paulo Coelho
So often we find ourselves in a situation where a person thinks they know, but quite clearly, they do not. It is not enough to read one's poetry or converse with them to know them as a whole. OR even to assume we can judge them or their actions. So much of what we base our opinions on, comes from very limited information. And quite often, those perceptions are not accurate.
Much of what you incorporate into your writes, I could very well appertain to my own life. I felt this piece greatly. Magnificent, Scotty as always. And the quotes at the beginning were so aptly appropriate. I do believe, my dear naz, that it is clearly impossible for you to write anything less than exceptional !
*So loves this!*

Naz, what an interesting title.... I really like it. They can be real scanvagers, which really seems to connect to your poem. Indeed, how we may all disguise ourselves so others may contemplate a connection of some sort..Ah yes we see and interpret as we choose. It seems somewhat of a paradox that we want to remain somewhat anonymous, yet we frequently want to be understood.
Well penned my friend,
Will/Terry |

BRAVO to a kindred soul! Fantastic write. Where your veil is only slightly opened, I tend t' throw mine wide open and stand naked in my thoughts to challenge the sharks to attack so that I may shove an iron rod of reason down their throat and into their pea-sized 'n' shrinking brains!
But that's just me. Marvelous work!
