Chains of my despair

Contributed by crow6279 on Tuesday, 20th December 2005 @ 07:39:25 PM in AEST
Topic: anguished

Black blood weaving through chains of iron
binding me to my despair
The rotting floorboards that must support me
the earth dank and treacherous

Beware the thoughts that elate
troubled walks through memory gardens
A sideways glance that means nothing
Impure love unrequited

It emanates and illuminates
the links tightening around my free will
Cohesion no longer an option
venom coursing through collapsed veins

Phantoms shift and hide and laugh
despair has become my redemption
She took my hand and burned her breast
smoke rising from charred flesh

Tears of acid pour down the drain
a cauterized heart indistinct
A voice ringing with accusations
justification will always be futile

Screams for mercy from among the trees
the bridge swings ever slowly
What have we here...an impish grin
emotion transfused with apathy

Ankles lashed to fields of stone
skyward I am falling
Worries taint my nestled brow
my crashing soul sounds the alarm

Air and wind they bring me in vain
the rust invading and inviting
Visons of her and a voice of dread
endings that will never begin

Foretelling, foreboding, one and the same
crimson clouds lined with ash
The mundane has become extraordinary
savoring the bile that sates me

Darkened room glows with sweet corruption
waves crashing on beaches of bone
Black blood weaving through chains of iron
binding me to my despair

The chains of my despair
