Four Fundamental Physical Forces

Contributed by Vitreous_Soul on Tuesday, 20th December 2005 @ 01:25:42 AM in AEST
Topic: didactic

A fragile mesh of thoughts and flesh, the human spirit writhes
A wand'ring kind, of narrow mind, we shamble through our lives
Our nebula, the formula, eludes understanding
This universe of souls so terse, beyond man's commanding

Of theories bound, no truth is found, just curiousity
The more we grow, the less we know, to forge ahead blindly
Eyes of machines, our only means, to gaze far distant lands
That starry scene is labyrinthine, macrocosm expands

Hypothesis, again we miss, once more square one rebounds
Research unveils how science fails, these errors, loud, resound
From accidents, coincidence, we know not why we're here
A creator, in theater, whom we blankly revere

Within our sphere, we never near, a goal we cannot reach
A quest to find the things that bind, ourselves we try to teach
This very world remains unfurled, before human vision
Just out of grasp, we fail to clasp, delicate precision

'Mongst fading fires, within failure's flames
Collective suspire, disproven claims
Conclusions segmental, dead-end courses
(These travels can't unravel)
Four fundamental physical forces

Random, thoughtless inspiration
Often breeds miscalculation
Prolonged bouts of exploration
Serve to further this vexation

The first of four anomalies
The clutching claws of gravity
A power great we cannot see
Yet it pulls interminably

With strength Earth orbits steadily
With strength it breathes invisibly
A quarter of complexity
Cornerstone of fragility

Unseen tetrad, twined quadratic
An elemental schematic
Crashing waves to lightning static
Otherworldly systematic

Nuclear force, both strong and weak
It fuses protons at it's peak
A cosmic spectre most unique
Undoes the Sun's thermal mystique

Radiation decay exists
Nuclear pulse the catalyst
As clear as ghosts, each form subsists
These forces four, balanced, persist

Microscopic, 'twixt a schism
Burns electromagnetism
Charged particles, matter's prism
Protons bridged within abysm

...This universe harbors our race
Our curse to live without a place
We're destined now to never fit
To question why, until we quit

Scrivened inside our tomes to hide, confusion kept and penned
A lost attempt, a race exempt, never to comprehend
An unheard noise, an unseen poise, a balance firm and true
Still searching high to prove a lie, we haven't but a clue

...Continually planes will shift
As prisoners we're left adrift
So limited by what we see
Our fate to wander aimlessly

Incomplete remains ev'ry mission
Ten thousand years may bring us vision

Wow. That's basically the only word that can be used to describe this poem. The thought put into this is so amazing, so incomprehensible. Yes, this defintely gives me something to think about. Your words are incredible. I love your use metaphors and imagery and all that other good stuff. I'm shocked by this poem, how you are able to combine science, theory, human curiosity, and the unkown all in a poetic rhyme that has great flow. This is probably the best poem I have seen on your-poetry.com. Wow. Just wow. Glorious Write.

~Dawn

I completely agree with Dawn. I love the lines -
"A lost attempt, a race exempt, never to comprehend
An unheard noise, an unseen poise, a balance firm and true
Still searching high to prove a lie, we haven't but a clue".
Absolutely fantastic, really. I've never read anything like it. That someone could express thoughts so profound, in words so beautiful, is just amazing.

Wow. Wow quite a few times. I hadn't ever thought it possible before, but I believe you've gotten better. Overwhelming is the best word I can put to this. You've rhythm, rhyme, variation, feeling, and most stunning of all to this age's poetry... meaning.
"Microscopic, 'twixt a schism
Burns electromagnetism"

"Crashing waves to lightning static
Otherworldly systematic"
Those lines are really fun to say aloud.

But I am trulystunned. Even if I should expect to be surprised by you every time, I am still that. I'll actually be pretty miffed if you can stand this up.
This might be one of my favourites from you. And I don't do favourites.

Keep writing or be sauteed,
-Eve.
