The Look I Lack

Everywhere I go,
I see a look I loathe.
A look they all hate,
And cover up and clothe.
Clothed in masks of distaste,
For all those free from them.
And from this knowledge,
Does their unhappiness stem.
It unsettles them to see,
A person liberated from masks.
One that doesn't pretend,
Or go about mindless tasks.
Tasks to distract them,
From their monotonous plight.
And from a future,
That doesn't look very bright.
But look into my eyes,
To see a look that beckons.
One that this very moment,
Seems to melt away the seconds.
Eyes that see the future,
And are blinded by brilliance.
Eyes that belong to a person,
Who is defined by his resilience.
One that sees not tedious errands,
But perceives life in every breath.
Something to stay the day,
That he is confronted with death.

I like this poem, got confusing in the end, but it was enjoyable nonetheless.
Nice job here

I don't understand it. It sounded like you think yourself ugly, getting sympathy at first, but ended it with how you're better than them. I 'unno. I just didn't understand it. Sorry. |
