Sitting in the dark listening to the anger fly,
Closing your eyes as you’re trying not to cry.
The words are muffled but you know what is said,
Fearing the effect of words better considered dead.
Truths resonate from the fray, likely to aggravate,
Tempers flair but you are too cowardly to mediate.
After their sacred vows they opened their eyes,
They stood along side one another drowning in lies.
It seems so long ago since she first answered “yes”,
Happy days now fade away looking at the mess.
Everything will go quiet on the count of three,
As you begin to wonder, “will this ever be me?”
