High Expectations

I don't know if Im exaggerating,
but for a few days Ive been debating,
creating the notion...
only if my heart would obey
the neverending motion of the tide
that is you and I
that rocks to and fro like a harmonious lullaby,
derived from our relationship together
and to one another,
or that which was or is to be,
but not quite there yet.
Letting my feelings overcome common senses,
weakened me with your kisses and left me defenseless,
Sensless,
as a body doped with novacaine
numbed from pain
from not calling,
Stalling,
as if I didn't exist.
Ironically I know it wouldn't be like this
if I didn't expect so many words
from your sweet silent lips.
