Shrunk

Contributed by justme03 on Monday, 12th December 2005 @ 02:04:32 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

The room was bland.
No personality.
I found it a tedious task just
to walk through the door.
A chair, a desk and a chair
behind the desk.
The man ushered me through
the entryway, urging me into
the depths of the monotonous chamber.
He gestured towards the
chair, indicating I was to sit.
I sat as he crossed to the chair behind the desk.
In constant motion.
Clenching my fists,
wringing my wrists,
tapping my foot,
and staring at the man with a cold look.
I was brought here just for him to delve
himself into my life and purge
my mind of all supposed abnormal
idiosyncrasies .
"I’m not gonna let you get to me.
I will not let you into my mind.
I am going to sit here in silence
and you can only try to get inside."
I said these things over and over inside my head;
attempting to telepathically
communicate to him
what I thought I had already
said to him with my outside behavior.
The man sat arranging papers
he had removed from a file.
He placed them neatly in front
of him, obviously
not one to deal with a mess.
Starting to ask me questions
hoping for me to confess
of some psychotic dreams,
I looked at him knowing
he was tearing at my seams.
Everything was going to be different;
for this man was my therapist
otherwise known as my shrink.

~Kortnie~

Interesting, seems more like a short story than a poem. Good nonetheless though!
