Lost All the More

Contributed by travisk on Monday, 12th December 2005 @ 06:46:33 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

You were standing across from me
In fields of the south that summer's day
Turned golden with our warmth, then grey
While a small child cured his social laments
Whispers were weaving-- I could not stay

Soon to follow were final promises
Spoken with desperate eyes
Their intensity elevated with each sip
Accompanied by false words and lies

Our hands met in futility
Across a friend's resting place
Forcing gazes to salvage a love to die
Lost in smooth silks of your face

Since then, Hardy's lesson that love deceives
Has brought fear of suffering to yield
Reminding of dead passions of years long past
And a small child, in a golden-grey field

This held my attention straight through... a sizable feat really as lately I've been too distracted to even make my way through a short poem without something tugging my mind in another direction. I very much like the balance you struck here --- in sharing, but not handing anything to the reader. It's absolutely touching... with ample amounts of heartache and awareness running just under the surface.

Very nicely done!

Thinking I need to make my way to your page more often,
~Snemmy

So vey poetic travisk..

"Soon to follow were final promises
Spoken with desperate eyes
Their intensity elevated with each sip
Accompanied by false words and lies"

3rd stanza speaks of some teatering hope as well:

"Our hands met in futility
Across a friend's resting place
Forcing gazes to salvage a love to die
Lost in smooth silks of your face"

final verse sums it up...

"Since then, Hardy's lesson that love deceives
Has brought fear of suffering to yield
Reminding of dead passions of years long past
And a small child, in a golden-grey field"

Please know My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours-

Perhaps love will prevail..

Very heartfelt and painful.. these words-

Here for you-
As always-

M.O.H.

a very beautifully written
and terrifically poetic sojourn
of something that could've been...

Dont lament the moments..
live in them-

I loved this-
