Comfort Me

Contributed by Merry on Sunday, 11th December 2005 @ 03:00:14 PM in AEST
Topic: abstract

Words crouch in the corner of my mouth
Ready to spring at the least provocation
But silence kisses my lips and I succumb
To numbness, close my eyes to see colors
I cannot see when I look in your eyes
Sleeping becomes a hateful chore
Breathing heavily against my heart
Long past the midnight hour
There is no haven for my thoughts
But truth’s sweet water refreshes
Senses so unsure of what they feel
Gnawed by decades of neglect
Choking on being just who I am
Nothing more – nothing less
Hammered silver skin shining in the sun
God’s laughter echoes throughout the ages
Having brought me here again and again
Crumbs remind me I have sinned without remorse
Forced to my knees I look for signs of faith
But faith has long since fled the soul
Who will comfort me?

For a poetess who conjures forth sweet words and beautiful imagery like this, I'd lay my heart at your feet.

Spike

p.s. my eyes are a deep, deep blue.

As I learn more and more about poetry, I am more an more amazed at how creative you are. The originality, the lack of cliche' only shows me how much I have yet to learn.
Wonderful piece!!!

I like the way you used the software words to express the hardware drive of this poem. It is not the words spoken, but heard from the heart, do not give up your faith in God, if you believe, He will be there to comfort you, He is always there for us when we need Him, and also... it is when we are feeling low, depressed, do not know which way to turn, He is there very close to us. I am sure, there is a small flicker of faith left in you, find those crumbs, crouch down... Bless you.. Raquel Leah :D
