Basking in your essence,
I feel your warming breath.
Enthralled by scales of ruby
clothing thy slender chest.
I worship thee o’ dragon,
with my humbled heart.
I worship thee this morning
Until light conquers dark.
When will I next see you?
to whom I pray and bow.
I worship thee o’ dragon
with all words from my mouth.

...I liked it...it read smoothly...your introduction was a pleasant tickler...and then the poem itself got the old gears moving...I like the use of the word "pagan" with a fresh sense of meaning...the traditional meaning stinks...in my youth I was taught to gasp when someone said you must choose your god...but, we do...it seems though, all we do is choose the container we are comfortable with...when it comes down to the essence, all of our gods pretty much provide our essential wants...safety, security, meaning, power, purpose, significance, a path to happiness, joy, Love...even as twisted as Charles Manson was, as strange and desparaging as was the container he chose to contain it with, his god was basically the same as all of ours...
...I think it's healthy to just admit you're a pagan and then get on with life...dragons???they're not for me...but, your friend is more than welcome...
...thanks for challenging my thought processes...

Ron, I very much agree with you. I am of the belief that people can chose whatever path they chose. In fact, one of the most enlightening things I have done, was befriend an ecclectic wiccan. I have learned so much from her, and so many stereotypes were busted. Even I used to think that the word "Pagan" was an offensive one, but that is what people proclaim themselves to be.
