Sonnet 2

What faith will save us when our days are short?
What strength will give us dignity in death?
In final moments will our lips exhort
a curse or prayer upon our dying breath?
Is life so precious that soul is cast away?
Do struggles test our faith, or test our will?
“My god is dead”, the fly was heard to say.
The spider smiled,” but you are deader still”.
The pearls of heaven, lost among the lies.
The Drop of dew upon a silken thread.
As man and god, apart like earth and skies,
avert their gaze. The spider mends his web.
Entrapped in sticky questions he must face,
man makes his choice and finds his resting place.
