Trapped and lonely
In my shell,
My heart thumping loudly,
A soft ringing of a bell.
The room is warm,
But I shiver with cold,
I’m still quite young,
But I feel tired and old.
I want to cry
But, there are no tears,
They’ve all faded away…
…Over the bitter years.
My life is crumbling,
Slowly drifting away,
I wonder if I should turn to God?
Shall I kneel down and pray?
I say all these feelings,
But they aren’t for real.
I only feel emptiness inside,
I ‘spose I’ll have to deal…
