far better than what ever
today could have made of me
to fling a hand
release a wrist
“Let go of me”
don’t touch me if you
want today to eventually turn
into tomorrow
a dark haired man
a man that I fear
and yet the defiance that
sinks to my toes
flinging bowls, hoping for shatter
to break a surface tension
that we’ve traveled over
for these fifteen years
“Let go of me”
who are you to say
how I felt today
when the world collapsed with
me inside?
the man who is the center
of everything I’ve ever
learned to fear says
“you destroy everything you touch”
who are you to blame
how I felt today
how was I to resist
the temptation to ignite?
when a fist comes flying
who are you to judge
the giving in, the final
acknowledgement
of a power I can
no longer resist
a need to defend and
a need to break the hammer before
it hits the nail
