Wishing I lived way back when
before all was taken...
by the ruthless white man.
Some sadly were my countries forefathers
**hippie bows her head in shame**
I know not all white men,
were to blame.
White man came here
to rob and steal.
Killed animal brethern
for furs and sport.
Buffalo died one day,
white man killed them all.
White man lusted for land.
White man lusted for power.
Red man's days growing short.
So many innocents were killed.
As in all battles that are waged.
Innocents on both sides,
once the act of war is engaged.
Red man fought for Mother Earth.
Red man fought for honor and pride.
On their bravest steeds
into the mist, they did ride.
America land of the free,
land of the proud.
Just don't step on toes
of the right-winged crowd.
My country makes me angry.
My country causes my soul pain.
We are a land based upon killing
our nation's red men.
Self-righteous bastards,
they are,
standing on capitol hill.
Any places they can go a killin'
that's where they get their thrill.
Doing it in the name of liberty.
You sick ***** make me ill, in
America.

Wow, this is a very powerful write. I can certainly identify with the sentiment as here in Australia a similar genocidal war was waged against the aboriginals by the white settlers.
You have expressed your self eloquently here Laura, well done!

The "White man" didn't do anything to the indian that they weren't doing to themselves, they were just better at it. |

Sad but true and they call it progress.
I dunno how I missed this one Doris, well worth trawling through your poetry for.
