Blank Snapshots

Contributed by weepingprophet on Monday, 5th December 2005 @ 03:28:46 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

I have unwrapped my most precious
Memory of all
The photo album has endured the shock
Of its inevitable fall

Here you are holding me
A quarter to three
Here you are loving me
Or so I had believed

The clock struck it’s time
Like an eclipse of the moon
We needed to talk
Our ending was so soon

Bow this little girl over
Not for the crowd
Whisper of repentance
Pain that’s muffled still loud

I have unwrapped my most precious
Blade from its shard
Flannel keeper of anguish
I have learned to disregard

Here you are unfolding me
As you walk away
Here you are locked in the album
And the clock is almost to three

That’s enough for the memory
Blank snapshots
Of empathy

An excellent theme to express yourself... the pictures in a photo album. Your style is as always, elegant and distinct... it made the entire piece shine with the utmost descriptive power:

I have unwrapped my most precious
Blade from its shard
Flannel keeper of anguish
I have learned to disregard

Keep up the most excellent writing.

Hmmm. So much of this I like. It was so very lonely. I swear I could hear that clock ticking. My favorite stanza was:

Here you are unfolding me
As you walk away
Here you are locked in the album
And the clock is almost to three

It screams lonliness and anguish. Wow. Great write from the soul. Thanks for sharing. Peace, Laura
