A voyage into thoughts
A compelling reason reaches shore
A long trip to the coastline
To stand and watch the ocean rumble with awe
Taking the slow train out of town
Hope to catch the countryside
The scenery sliding by
Hopes and dreams
In a luggage compartment
Underneath the engines of steel
Gulls dive to snatch a meal
On the tops of boulders-
Which have seen too many centuries to count
Standing with hands open
Spread apart a mile long
From two shoulders-
Collecting pleasure in the right amount
Returning to congested freeways
Skyscrapers, spray-painters
Who can really say
Speeding back
To where everyone else matters
Time spent
Is time remembered
Experience, environment, and culture
Natural precedent
The carcass remains still for the circling vulture
Taking a slow train out of mind
Hope to catch the countryside
And live the scenery sliding by

That last stanza is hopelessly sad...I have to laugh (albeit bitterly), at that first line in this piece:
A voyage into thoughts...
Only because it seems to be the only type of 'vacation' we can take at a moments notice...lol Some of us never come back though, right 'D'...?
Scorp : )
(Who has been on vacation for quite some time---lol!) |
