Where Are They

Contributed by enigma on Sunday, 4th December 2005 @ 04:17:22 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Where Are They

Where are they,
my soulmates...
dehumanized,
torn and burned,
laid to rest alongside rusting refrigerators,
rotting potato peels,
and crumpled paper...

Where are they,
my brothers and sisters,
your brothers and sisters...
thrown away,
discarded,
forgotten...

Why are they not...
What unspeakable mystery was at work
causing me to be chosen,
and them, not...
that would obliterate their existence,
and yet grant me life...
Their absence breeds a twisted and loveless void,
a sanctioned holocaust,
deep within the breast of mankind...
There's is an eternal silence that roars,
a disconsolate chorus in my soul,
a requiem within my spirit...

Many times,
in the still and sacred sanctuary of thought,
I tremble and wonder;
why am I,
when they are not.

I can't believe no-one made a comment about this. This was very, very good. I have been browsing through the poems trying to find someone that wrote a bit similar to my taste, and I got yours first. There is only one thing bothering me about this poem.

"There's is an eternal silence that roars"

"There is"? Does that work better? Otherwise, excellent poem. I have ideas of what you were referring to, but enlighten me. What was this poem about?

"I must seize the moment, before there are none"

Yes, there are a lot of homeless hearts... lay waste the land. Solemn chant this poem, yes, and a lot of sleeping souls walking around, let this poem be an honor for those homeless hearts and sleep walkers, lets pray this prayer...

Angel of God, my Guardian dear,
To whom God's love commits me here,
Ever this day be at my side,
To light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
