Dad

Topic: DarkPoetry

You did this to us,
You caused the webbed mess,
You planted these feelings in my heart,
And just let them grow.

Why did you do it?
Why weren't you like all the other dads?
Why did you hurt her?
And hurt us too?

You beat her till she thought she'd die,
You ruined her life,
You killed her soul,
And almost killed her body.

Why do i feel like this then?
Why do i wonder what you're doing?
Why do i think about you,
And wonder if you think about me too.

You shouldn't deserve to live,
You shouldn't deserve a daughter,
You shouldn't deserve my love or hate,
But why do i wonder if you should?

M ...My dear friend..how this one ached my heart so deeply....we have something in common..although the man who beat my mother for years was not my dad...nor did i call him dad. It's hard when your small and there's not much you can do and the only thing you can think of is to call the police to help her somehow...but even doing that never stops the beatings. What's sad is that the soul is beaten right out of them leaving them feeling worthless and unworthy of life itself...I myself turned around and was in an abusive marriage for 9 years...i wanted to give my children somthing that i never had..which was a daddy..and it was the worst mistake i ever made..I now know that "Not having a dad at all"..is better than "Having a bad one"...My children suffered dearly as they watched me being abused..as i did watching my mother...and it's so sad because the depth of your heart continues to love the person...and they dont even see it......My heart is right there with you my friend...i hope your mom is alright..and that she still isnt going through this horrific pain...and i hope that you find your way of healing my friend because i know there's no words anyone can say to make your pain any better....*hugs*...

A sad poem, but feelings so real. I know what you are going through. I used to ask the same questions to myself as you do. Everyone who has been in this similar situation, somehow and someway must find peace. I know I have found my peace through the years. I hope the best for you and your mom.

i feel almost ashamed to say it.. but my dad beat my mom. they got divorced when i was 3, and he stopped once i was born... but it's very awkward and hurtful to think about. most of it was drinking induced.. but that's not an excuse. sometimes i wonder if i'm being unloyal to my mom to still love my father and still support him. he's a completely different person now, and so is she. i'm still confused though.
btw, thanks for the note. i really appreciate positive feedback.
