Crying out a lonely tune.
Blackbird winging above.
Flying tree to tree,
branch to branch,
searching for his lost love.
She flew away today.
Never told a soul,
you see.
Try to find another way.
Cannot be confined
to this hectic city life.
Wants to be a country chick,
not some stuffy city wife.
Heard him cry
his mournful prose.
Calling out
to his long lost girl.
He flapped his wings
all through the night.
The city he did venture.
Lonely blackbird
hear him crying.
His tears...
a frozen winter.
She could not hear his
songs of lament.
For, too far away
she was.
Strong wings carried her
through forests of pine.
Air dripped
in nature's scent.
Pretty bird now preening
in the tallest pine.
City now a long lost memory,
and he just a
piece of time...
spent.
