Twenty Years (Nothing Is Sacred)

Contributed by xnoybis on Saturday, 3rd December 2005 @ 04:36:40 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

I'm sitting here
Trying to decide
If twenty years is
Too much to throw away

I start to think that
The answer is yes, until
I remember our conversation
About letting the past go away

And so
I just don't know, now
It seems to me
For having let so much go
That certainly something
Must be worth keeping
For the reaping of the sow

But I'm having trouble these days
In seeing the worth
And somehow, I think
It might just be a lesson
You'd find of worth

Or maybe my jaded past
Is paying off in spades
And I can't find true value
In anything I have made

But if our twenty years
Are so bankrupt
and backwardly empty
I can only ask
What does that say of us?

Are we just mutual ears
Sounding off to the board?
And if we are
To what accord do I
owe this dishonour?

But that can hardly be it
Can it? When your echoes
Stop here in my hall
But mine seem to find life
In every cold call

Must everything
Be pre-demised?
Maybe not in concept
But apparently in my eyes

The fact that you..
I swear I despise..
The fact that you make me
Hyper realize..

I'm sitting here
Trying to decide
If twenty years is
Too much to throw away

Interesting write - a lot of thoughts packed into your words - made me think people share the same kind of experiences in life no matter who they are or where they live.

Twenty years of emptiness are not worth another day that is certain. People deserve to live a lovingly life not a lifeless, empty one. I really loved the work you penned here. It is absolutely marvelous. Thank you for the wonderful gift of your pen. Write on!
