If I were falling ~
Would you pick me up
or lay me down?
If I were calling ~
Would you turn away
or turn around?
If I were thirsty ~
Would your love rain down
upon my soul?
If I were empty ~
Would you take me
make me whole?
Most everyone believes
to be a man
you always must be strong.
Little boys conditioned
that their tears
are somehow always wrong.
But everybody needs someone
to help them face
their darkest hour.
My heart keeps repeating
you’re the one for me
who has that power.
If I were lonely ~
Would you sit and stay
with me awhile?
If I were troubled ~
Would you find a way
to make me smile?
If I were broken ~
Would you tend to every
fractured bone?
If I were lost ~
Would you come find me
would you take me home?
I’m feeling lonely, troubled,
broken, lost,
empty and cold.
Is it too much to hope for
someone warm
to have and hold.
And if by some small chance
you find you’re feeling
like I do,
Would you consider
maybe I could be
the same for you?
If I were falling ~
Would you pick me up
or lay
me
down?

Beautiful styling, especially at the opening and closing. Heartfelt theme, and as ever 'tis done with great skill.
Nicely done.

This write is understood and intensely familar, nazzy. Questions
we ask, almost in rhetoric to a cosmic void. And yet we hope, in all
our repudiation that it is so, tha someone will hear it, and .....and ...
and dare even answer it. Parts of this piece seep into the depth's
of one's soul and as I sit here in the warm glow of my monitor screen,
I am moved. Not just by a poem, but by a talent that never fails to amaze
and delight. Thank you for sharing this beautiful, beautiful piece, Scotty.
Again, so simple a thought has been given wings in a most unique and
touching way by our dear wizard of words!

I love the whole thing, but the third stanza really caught my eye. You've captured poetry.
Take care.
