Letting Go Of Stars

Contributed by Silent-No-More on Friday, 2nd December 2005 @ 02:35:05 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

Give me night…
And I will no longer
Need the stars

For when a Poet lowers his voice
To say - with quiet, yet glorious certainty-
That we were meant to be something more

The Moon cannot help but listen

And Time cannot forget us -
Standing still, so still!, with our toes
Dangling over the edge of tomorrow.

~ ~ ~

The Moon beckons…
And I turn my face to the sky

~ ~ ~

In the stillness of the night-
Words tumble from the sky, falling
In silence like a lover’s gentle kiss

Under the Moon’s watchful eye

I push aside exhausted purples
To sing of the Poet that dared the night
And let go the stars to find a dream

Oh! Give me night…
It is it alone
That I need

MMmmm!! That was like imbibing in a sweet, smooth dessert, or swimming without needing to breathe in long, sensuous strokes. Simply a delight to open your surprises. And what lines:

Standing still, so still!, with our toes
Dangling over the edge of tomorrow.

They send a thrill up my spine. A 5-er, no doubt, oh yeah (hands in the air, doing a very poor white man's imitation of hip hop gestures).

Beautiful images, most definitely. The message is very inspiring, as well. I must ponder on it, I think.

Save one star ... i think. Cuz even when you find tomorrow, there should still remain in it dreams and hopes and wishes. A fabulous sentiment though, and penned quite well. Here's wishing you a lifetime of dreams and the knowing that they can come true.
