Termite Bites
Bite me, bite me, bite me,
Take chunks out of my heart.
Break through the flimsy eggshell,
Painted so tough, yet easily smashed apart.
Leave it tattered, yet beating still,
Now to the rhythm of your tune.
To Dance the steps you choreograph,
And sing the anthem you croon.
The wings on my feet won’t lift me,
too flimsy to take the weight.
The dance of life I will complete,
With my heavy clumsy gait.
My anthem was just a jingle,
To fill a gap in time.
No new exciting opera,
Not a melody divine.
How foolish, how blind, how naive,
To think the butterfly is me.
I am the worker in the termite mound,
It is where I’m supposed to be.

| Hey, I came and read you because you've read me. I loved the write.So I'm really glad I stopped in. I noticed some one left you a nasty rating of a one (I don't understand why)....I gave you a five. My favorite part of this piece was....."Take chunks out of my heart, Break through the flimsy eggshell, Painted so tough, yet easily smashed apart." Excellent piece of writing there.
