Japanese Sunrise

Up a hill
Under Japanese sunrise
Shouts and screams of
Combat teams
Slug it up over dented mud
Over dented bodies
Duck & cover, Duck & cover!
Thoughts of home and of lover
Invade your mind – DAMN
Must focus!
As bullets whiz past ears
A ringing
“Grenade”, shouts a sergeant
In a tone that is urgent
Man up ahead
Lost his head, as shrapnel blooms
Like a spring flower
But with military power
Aim & Shoot, Aim & Fire
Blood mixed with what you perspire
Up a hill – under Japanese sunrise

'dented mud'?
I like 'shrapnel blooms' though. |
