To the man I never thought would leave

Topic: AngryPoetry

Alone I sit where you once sat,
My mood feels so flat.
A darkness looms over our "home"
It feels as cold as stone.

You left but expect things to be the same,
When in fact you are the only one to blame.
You walk out and expect us not to be hurt,
But you left your sons with very little comfort.

You made a promise but didn't keep it,
You love them, how do you expect them to believe it?
You make us very angry and oh so sad,
Where are you when your sons feel bad?

You talk to us when you wish,
And this you seem to insist.
You talk to them more than me,
But thats how I'd prefer it to be.

I'm not ready to hear your words,
Because you were a coward.
You couldn't even say bye,
So instead you lie?

How are we meant to believe you?
Even if you say your words are true.
You told me you would never leave,
So I had to believe.

Yet like every other man in my life so far, you lied.
With the lie, part of my faith died.
I can't hate you because you help me grow up,
So the love has stuck.

I don't trust you,
You are no longer you.
Instead you're a shadow of the man you once were.

SJ

I can certainly see and feel the anger in this.
Sorry seems such a weak word to offer

must admit had preconception formed based on the title, ended up being the exact opposite. found 4th line 2nd stanza interesting. read what i expected to read first time then realized it did not say "left us", said "your sons" instead. very very poignant. Hope its ok if I read some of these some times, Love poetry read a lot of it,inspireing, thought provoking, dark, light, funny, or forlorn. Bob
