Stars flicker in the corner of my mind,
I see images of a fragmented dream.
The completed image I cannot find,
Lost like a leaf dropped in a stream.
Whispers reach the edges of my ear,
Dropped there by a stray strand of wind,
Now I know it truly is what I greatly fear,
I watch the future begin to shape and bend.
Darkness shrouds the once kind souls,
The falling blade rings, striking the ground.
Watch hopes disintegrate, broken goals,
As once free people are finally bound.
And here I sit, watching it all unfold,
An unwilling spectator to a gruesome sport.
The old wizard knows all, or so I'm told,
But I see that its annihilation that we court.
