I woke up early this mourning
with an aching in my head
then tried to find a reason
to roll out of my bed
the snow falls outside my window
as the winter wind blows
i wish i could just stay home today
but thats just the way life goes
90 days in the count jail
for commiting a made up crime
they'll try to steel my freedom
but all the'll get is my time
so i'll sit here all alone
more lonesome than anyone knows
i wish i were at home today
but thats just the way life goes
i herd the news this mourning
dad died just last night
sister says i'll make it trough
but i know i'll never be alright
my heart has grown weary
my blood, colder as it flows
i wish dad were home today
but thats just the way life goes
