Memories Never Die

Memories never die

However hard you try to forget
There’s always those thoughts
Always those moments
Where you remember what you had
How insigificant it may have been
Compared to now
Where you’d give anything to go back

But you can’t go back
You can remember exactly how things went
You can wish so much
Just to be in that moment again
You think about what you thought back then
And you wish you could tell yourself
You’re so lucky right now
You have no idea how much
You’ll be longing for that moment
Hoping you could just go back
Wondering what went wrong

Trying to forget that moment, those memories
Not because they’re bad
But because it pains you so much
To think about what you had
And what you’re missing
And how impossible it would be
For those memories to ever happen again

Oh, how hard you try to forget those moments
It pains you so much
How badly you wish you could go back
But you can’t go back
So you try your best
To erase those memories
Erase those feelings, erase the pain
You try so hard, for so long
But no matter what you do
they’re always with you

Memories never die
