Glistening, glistening
Are you listening?
It's nothing
And nothing, my friend
Nothing could make nothing
Nothing but this which is
Glistening, glistening
An open palm
And all you can see are spots
Those streetlights that cling
To the inside of your eyelids
And a year's worth of dreams
Prayers, memories, hopes, moments
Floating slow, patient
What's the hurry?
They've been there all along.
And the road
It is empty-only me
In the light of the moon
The stars, the clinging streetlights
Memories floating downward
Of scraping this unhurried fluff
From hoods and truck beds
That part of me has gone with you
And him, and him, and her, and him
But no, it is still with me
In memories that float downward
Unhurried, in the rays of a streetlight
To meet me alone-
And they remain
Glistening, glistening
