Death Row Earth

Contributed by Cancer on Thursday, 23rd January 2003 @ 02:40:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

everything is relative
when you believe in nothing
and you can always make nothing from something
when something means so little
i won't begrudge a man a pound of flesh
since i'm tearing it off anyway
when i stand in front of the swaying throng
with death in my eyes and bile in my throat
i wonder if they'll see
i wonder if they'll even notice
as i sweep through their ranks
like some demented grim reaper
harvesting lives gone to waste
when fifty-one death cards
lay face up on the table
do you think that the world will shudder
do you think anyone will understand
so close to gone, yet i'm sure it's a joke
how long the same game
how long the same feeling
burned inside my own funereal pyre
eyes blaze, then flicker, then die
my scythe on the swing
as headless necks sing
swan songs in the key of blood loss
plastic wrapped garbage
reeks of sulfur and hell
as the dozers pile up my spoils
infinite slaughter
limitless lumps of discarded flesh that smacked ripe of *****
their words and their phrases
mind-killing tick-tocks
as they waited for me to rise
they knew i was coming
they all knew their fate
and why would they want to go on
dead-end jobs and families
nothing special, nothing new
just the same old ***** recycled for retail
regurgitated culture
steams like ***** in the mourning
the only mourning this planet will now
for when my nighttime ride ends
there will be no eyes left to shed
tears of mourning for death row earth

'You can always make nothing from something when something means so little'... a marvelous line and very accurate, I'd say. This rough-spoken style of yours is not my cup of tea, but let me say this for it. Like it or not, some folks should read it for the value of a wake-up call to their souls. I thank God that there is a positive way of escape from their meaningless ways of life. May good things come your way, Can. Your friend, Bizzy
