As the newborn cries in the early morn my mind turns to you
Your long unkempt silky hair, unwashed mouth that spoke so true
In the waning mid day trial with the mob all around you shared with me your soul
And I returned as best I could, listening to you made me want to be whole
Like lovers we passed notes in class,
Downloaded articles on the unknowable that made the paper aeroplanes seem such a childish farce
And know I sit and wonder why
Why you did not call?
Why our time was so brief?
Why this pain I feel is so much like grief?
Will I ever see you again?
Where are you on this breaking morn?
My dark truth speaking endlessly seeking one
What was it, did I do something wrong?
Have you found the saviour yet there was so much left to discuss
I never gave you that Bible did I betray your trust
I would have liked it to be from me
To return the favour, for what you let me see
You affirmed my belief in being my self
I may have set you on the path but your questioning forever tested my spiritual health
I feared sometimes your steamroller mind
I answered you as best I could and tried not let my faith fall behind
But always in a warmer place I longed to be more than just your friend
I told you ounce my truth with all of my courage and you did not respond
Was it to much to take on?
There was always a question I never asked, a line I never crossed, a move I never made
I always wondered
I dream still
For all you gave me there is a void you did not fill
Remember our plans we were going to see the world, just you and me
I would have had the courage then to speak
How long hitch hiking, sleeping under the stars a month or just a week
Oh, but there is a rift between us something must have been lost
Even if its just distance I long to mend whatever the cost
So today on this early morn I wrote you, to pass the time, this
Too morn the never was of our first kiss
Wherever you are this sweet morn
Don’t let the barsted’s rob you of you
If we ever meet again I will be more bold
Whatever your truth, please don’t leave me cold

Good write, It brought back a memory that I had shrugged off for a long time. I am sure that if he read this poem he would think about what he did. Thanks for sharing with us. |

in this I sensed your time with him was brief, but wonderful. However, this particular piece has similarities to my own life, but never brought back memories. Instead, let me envison the sense of peace I've experienced at one point in my life with the sense of peace i've longed for.
Kudos!
