I saw an old pine
That silently had broken
Its way to freedom,
Its way light and life,
Throughout the cold mass
Of a granite rock.
Now, it was falling slowly
Into the abyss.
All had been in vain.
I met an old man,
Who had been a hero,
Giving everything of him away,
Without even thinking of reward.
Now he was dying,
Alone and helpless,
Betrayed by everyone
Even by himself.
All had been in vain.

Ah so beautiful - and sad!
Don't we all go through betrayals?
Yet, - nothing is "in vain", just serves a purpose we do not understand as yet tesoro mio.
Schoenes Danksagungsfast
