Conversations With A Streetlamp

Contributed by MrMojoRisin on Tuesday, 22nd November 2005 @ 04:20:11 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

I often sit beside a streetlamp
And no certain one at all.
I ask about the people its seen
While on its silent sentry.
The stories it weaves are wondrous:
Young mothers strolling with their babies
beaming loving rays as they walk along.
Children playing in the sun's warm light
only caring to have fun.
Troubled teens angry at the world
stop beneath to brood and groan.
Young lovers stroll by, hand in hand
and slyly stop to steal a kiss.
And the lonely souls who yearn for love
to throw it away for the bottle.

My streetlamps know and love them all.

...the title sucked me right in...the poem captures how most of life walks slowly by without being noticed...I love watching people passing...

...nice, thanks...

What a cleverly unique idea and unique way to look at the world. I absolutely love this poem. It has pleasant imagery, is happy, & is sad. Definitely brilliant.

Thank you for sharing.
