So riddle me, riddle me, riddle me this
Where was my boy, the night of the kiss?
The kiss, the kiss, the kiss of sweet death
That hit me so hard, like a slug in the chest…
Where was my boy, when those two lost their lives?
Was he really there, among the glow of smooth knives?
Did he tell me the truth or feed me his sweet lies?
Where was my boy, my boy that sad night?
Ive known him so long, it could never be true
I thought to myself, as I read the article twice through
He was my own, my only, my one for a while
Had it really been that long, since I’d seen that boys smile?
So I called the old number, I’d had since long ago
And asked for the name, tho it stuck in my throat
And I heard the voice of a boy who’d once been all mine
And I asked him and begged of him, the truth please, this time
He told me it was all just a bittersweet lie, a lie
And I believed that boy, told him it would be alright
So he told me the story of what really happened that night
And it seems to me, the paper didn’t have it quite right
They said that he’d done it, he’d done it for fun
But I knew my boy, he wasn’t, just wasn’t, couldn’t be the one
So riddle me, riddle me, riddle me this
Where was my boy, the night of the kiss?
The kiss, the kiss, the kiss of sweet death
That hit me so hard, like a slug in the chest…
Where was my boy, when those two lost their lives?
Was he really there, among the glow of smooth knives?
Did he tell me the truth or feed me his sweet lies?
Where was my boy, my boy that sad night?
