I'd Leave For You

this is the last space
between where we’ve been
this is the last pause
in a conversation about pain…
my best friend tells me
people don’t really change
I’m so lost with out love
and the lust that drives me
over, past previous intent
I swallowed guilt for breakfast
and he’s so afraid I’ll break
crying on the phone, I confess
fear for only the second time in my life
like a child, so small
and thick voiced
“I’m so afraid no one will want me”
the truth caught up in a lie of love
I know the man loves me
he can’t help it
but he’s never seen me chained
held down by a fear
of what I can become
he’s never seen me on my knees
I’d leave him in a moment for you
call me today and I’ll
get a ticket
for a plane and fly down
just to hear you say my name
