A Nightmare On PalTalk Street

Contributed by xXx_Fem_Fatale_xXx on Wednesday, 16th November 2005 @ 01:28:10 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

47,530 people are now in 3,513 rooms!
It says above on the PalTalk Buddylist
Showing how many people there are
On a single internet chatprogram
Going by the name of PalTalk

Everyone getting their daily dosis
Of other peoples grief and misery
Having a moment in a day
Where we can drift away
From our own reality and life

Friends come, friends go
One day you are the most liked
The next day you are already forgotten
Finding truth on here is as rare
As finding a fresh lotus flower blooming

Escaping our own truth, getting involved
With all the misery on here
Our latest hurt, our latest crime
So openly told to the stranger online
Not knowing what will be done with it

Nothing is so fickle as this net
Crying behind our screens
Recovering from our latest lost friendship
We say to ourselves, why we try?
And think, this is just another nightmare,

A Nightmare on Paltalk Street....

~~ Nats ~~

You sum it up in the lines
"Having a moment in a day
Where we can drift away
From our own reality and life"
The truth is, it isn't real life.......it never will be.It is only ever an escape from something.
Long lasting friendships can only come from the truth, not from lies.

What a wonderful and original poem about the Internet and finding truth on the Internet.

I love the metaphorical comparison you make here:

Finding truth on here is as rare
As finding a fresh lotus flower blooming

Brilliant :-)

Very well done, Nats.

I applaud thee.

Tim

Bloody oath its fickle; one day cock of the walk, next a feather duster. That's why it will never replace the real thing, which is harder to build, but longer to stay. I haven't read anyone posting on this subject (except for cyber love and all that junk). Good stuff, Lady of the Windmills.
