Up & Gone
This morning, I was up and gone
Before you opened your eyes
For when you went to check on me
You were quite surprised
There were the covers
And there was the bed
And there was the pillow
But where was the head?
Where were the arms?
And where were the feet?
Where was your daddy?
In which you came to meet
Up before the dawn
And quickly on my way
I got an early start
To my busy day
But not before I stopped
To kiss my little child
Who was lost in a dream
That was running wild
I’ll call you on the phone
After breakfast is done
And say my good mornings
To my beautiful son

this is such a delightful poem, you have me in tears, so sweet you are as a daddy, now I say he is lucky, I like the part where you say you will call him after breakfast is done
that makes everything alright

All should be greatful to have , or have had someone like that.! Yes, ALL kids, deserve happiness.! Not a single one should be left in the cold.! Wish more parents would read what you typed.! Beautiful........
