The Mask

Contributed by Fernanda_F_Rocha on Tuesday, 15th November 2005 @ 11:40:11 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

You've failed Yourself,
It's that mask
You've used it too long
And it went all wrong
You didn't notice You had it on
It is now stuck in You
Nothing can be done

You've used it like a face
You needed it on
You had to look sublime
To prove You were strong
To be undoubtedly to everyone
To wave your glamour around
To shine like a polished armour

Time have passed
Life have changed You
You feel the need to take if off
To learn some sane reality
But You feel weak, defeated
You fear You won't survive
You have no longer the strength

You can't remember yourself
You don't know who You were
Who was there before the mask
No memories were kept
Not even fragments Collected
Just You within the mask.

This one.. hit me off guard. It's very much like myself, though I'm hesitant to admit that.

Brilliant write.

Blessed be,

Fernanda...your expressions are so delicate...such a massive piece of granite this mask stuff is...and yet your spirit softly speaks...

...I guess one of the strengths of cyberspace is that the gaudy, scene-stealing five senses are eliminated...still the mask we were given***it was given...no...it was thrust upon us quite innocently, but regardless of malevolent intent it was thrust upon us at a time of our development when we could not refuse***this mask unfortunately goes deeper than the five senses...I think the arts, the creative expression that the arts make possible allows us to glow through...I noticed this glow the first time i read one of your poems...you are obviously Beautiful...

...but, beautiful or ugly, it's no fun living behind a mask...on a more clinical note, my understanding of early childhood development, the first three years, was the key to gaining my freedom from the mask my loving and concerned, but so sadly emotionally handicapped parents thrust upon me. More specifically, it was my understanding of Attachment Theory that blew it all out into the open...

...I'd love for you to write and post a poem in Portuguese...I think the glow is independant of language...when you glow, you glow...

...your expression was warmly received...
