Yesterday's Guilt
-------------------------------------------
a hollow sip of yesterday's guilt
trickles down my throat
eyes avert the mirror's reveal
stifle the gag, undermine the choke
heavy the burden
the grasp of the debt
days idly spent
dwelling in regret
a choice or a moment
i am blind to tell
which one will withstand
which one will fail
tear the worth out
destroy what i know
a choice is so futile
i've only to let go
choice and moment
blind everstill
eyes avert the mirror
all its reveal
the guilt of the past
the sting of its revolt
the grasp of time's debt
the hollowness of regret
destroy what i know
i've only to let go

This is well expressed, and I love the simplicity of its message, and the truth at the end: we can only let go of a past we can no longer control. |

great metaphors
and very powerful first stanza..
I really loved seeing the absence
of the capitolization of the first letter
in every line...UGGH-
and the overall absence of puncuation
made this to be even more poetic than it leads on to be..
It leaves much to the imagination
and more room for self interpretation..
I really enjoyed this..
