Are all welfare state inhabited pubs like this?
A play area for those of us who have nothing else left?
A place where we come to air our problems?
Yet we never find our answers!
So we look deeper into the bottom of our glasses for the answers.
Drink after drink, yet there is no reprieve from our pains and numbed desires.
Desires we all once had before the temporary comfort of the drink consumed us.
The self destruction and anger we create in these places expel throughout.
The walls, the people, the whole place dripping in lost hopes,
We are blinded by fury and dependence of the drink.
False friendships and collective mentalities are formed here.
The outside world seems a blur obscured by a hazy clan of drunkenly humoured people.
People who lie, cheat, and deny to themselves who they really are.
The ‘demon drink’ beckoning them to ‘take more’.
Minds shattered, inhibitions lost then new ones created to suit the masses.
No one is anyone anymore.
Nothing means anything.
And everything becomes nothing
The only thing left to live for is the next fix of alcohol.

What an inspirational poem. It's never fun to feel like that. I do hope you feel better and get out of your addiction. The world shouldn't be like that. |
