I can close the curtains
But I can't close my ears
I can't close them, keep them from hearing,
Hearing the howling of the wind outside.
I can block out the noise,
block it out with euphony,
Euphony the headphones deliver, lulling me to sleep.
I can block out all my sense, keep them away
Hidden in a crevice of my mind.
They'll always be there for me,
to show me my flaws, to feel pain.
They'll let me smell fear, to pinch the flesh I love to loathe,
to hear myself scrutinize every inch of my body.
I'd much prefer not to mess with my senses,
I'd love to be senseless.
