Lovers Anonymous

My name is Spike and I am an addict…………

So tell me, in sweet whispered tones,
How love and loss just tossed the bones
And laid a bet of cruel delight,
To see which one will torture me tonight

(Snake eyes)

Take me to the place of sin,
Where saps like me are taken in
Where poor lost souls flop double deuce,
And lose their hearts and hope.

(Rags)

Let me wander the hallowed halls,
Where pretty lights frame alley brawls
Where lovers mingle with suicides
On darkened city streets
It seems to me I’ve drifted down,
from respected dens to seedy dives
Begging for love from strangers all,
Like an urchin begs for sweets

(Bad Beat)

Lay it on red, spin the wheel,
Drop the ball of cold hard steel
Just don’t hope for an even bet,
When you stake your heart
On love’s roulette

(Double 00)

Who’ll be there now the chips are gone,
Consoling me when luck runs out
Will comfort me and dry my tears
When I’m all in and done?
All I have is a waning smile,
And what remains of love’s stockpile
Unaware that the odds were never
Meant to be in the player’s favour

(House wins)

My name is Spike and I am an addict…………

Life is the cure for compulsive romantics, I guess, but it employs the principles of the prestigious School of Hard Knocks.

Well expressed.

Well, life and all is a gamble. just know when to play what you have, and play it correctly, not foolishly.! Nothing is guarenteed.!

Well, I hate to disagree with Andrew and Brew, (you know I love
you guys! ), but I don't believe life is a cure nor do I think if you
play your cards wisely can you win. I am a relentless and
completely hopeless romantic and shall be til my dying day.
Life has not changed that opinon. Nor has playing by the
rules, so to speak. All it has gotten me, is , well, a broken heart.
Far too often. But I shall NEVER relent.
Spike, this was pure and raw. I can definitely relate and you
placed it down in a very imaginative way. I daresay there
isn't a prosaic bone in your body.
Always a pleasure ...

~B

*hugs*
