If It Was Enough

Contributed by lostinmyself on Friday, 11th November 2005 @ 06:43:27 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

These tears don't seem enough,

It's like I've forgotten how to cry.

Yet I know the tears are waiting,

Hidden behind these eyes.

They're pondering the moment,

Where will, will surely break,

And wail would be heard again,

These tears will soothe the ache.

And I can feel, my chest is burning,

Breathing is getting tough,

I'd cry out to the world, somehow,

If I felt it was enough.

But people's eyes are glazing,

Hard and cold like steel,

There is no one here to turn to.

And I'm lost in what I feel.

But my eyes are misting over,

Soon sleep will take its hold,

I'll burrow down into my bed,

And pray I will grow old.

For closer to the ending,

Will happiness begin,

But instead I'll die inside myself,

And find solitude, within.

So I'll close my eyes to block the light,

And sleep will comfort me,

For behind my eyes, lost in tears,

Dreams are reality.

Somewhere, I'll have a place to hide,

A place where pain will end.

And in the morning when I wake,

I'll remember life again.

and rightfully so missy!!! lol

I'm so in love with this piece, as you well know sweetie.
It's so beautifully crafted and deeply profound. I mentioned
on one of Jarred's that I really adore it when I can feel and hear the
poet's heart. Yours is screaming it's lungs out !! But oh, so very
softly ... it's positively beautiful. Sometimes I am stilled by talent alone ..
this is one of those times ..

*hugs you tons*

~Breezy

Well, Phil. This has, I think, a little more raw you to it than usual, as if it was not written to be seen, which I suppose may be the case. Still, it's beautiful and very heartfelt. I like those italacized final lines, and I think you picked just the right words in each of them.

God bless you, my friend.

Andrew

PhillyGirl, I really need to visit your account page more often...I am never disappointed with your heartfelt writes. They are always so very honestly expressed, and flow along so well, no matter the emotion. This had a very melancholy feel to it, and it tugs at the heart, for sure. Beautifully wriiten, as always.

A sad lament, but beautifully written. The emotion and meloncholy really come through on this one. There is a soft gentle flow and and rhythum to the poem. I feel a lonely feeling when I read the poem, yet the ending is rather optomistic or hopeful.

Peace be with you, Phil. I hope you will be feeling better; and thanks for sharing this lovely poem. Thanks to Breezy for encouraging you to post it!

Will

I agree with Andrew; the italics are placed at all the right points.
Potent with emotion. I enjoyed reading this.

Oh Phil the places you take my mind and heart, I love to tag along........and I'm never disappointed either. So many people now a days are afraid to cry......We suppress our feelings thinking if we stuff them deep enough they will never surface.........but this poem shows so eloquently that you can sleep them away, until another day, but someday, all those hidden tears will show themselves...........and I'm always afraid they will never stop.
My you are so talented in writing the truths of human nature, and I enjoyed this one so much.
Warm love
consue

That was very sad and beautifully written, PhillyGirl. I'm glad Breezy "forced" you to post it :) You should always listen to the "Breeze."

This was an incredible write, yes, sad but do I detect a note of postitive hope at the end, where you'll wake and remember life again? I hope so.

Thank you for sharing and take care,

Tim

I love poetry when it relates so much and this one hit a strong nerve. Now this shows what an incredible writer you are reaches far down and rips emotion out. I dont have any more words for you except you have touched me with this deeper than almost anything i have read before..well done and you look after yourself
